Calling All Witches! The Reason Your Rituals Aren't Working
And The FREE 29-Page Integration Spiral Guide To Help
This is part of the That Sacred Decay series called Mysticism and Healing Alchemy, where I explore the Venn diagram of spirituality and psychology.
The Substack algorithm is probably having a field day trying to figure the hell out of my articles and where to pigeonhole me…
One minute, I’m dissecting Anne Rice’s vampire world, the next I’m talking about friendship grief, the next thing is CPTSD recovery and then it’s Witchy Woo Woo stuff.
The problem is, for me, it’s all interconnected.
It’s all one path.
I see it like the bloody Matrix green binary screen.
And lately, whilst trying to build two businesses, I was feeling misaligned and I couldn’t figure out why.
How could my two brands (CalDorLyn and KULT) feel so different, when they both are shaped by the same fire?
How could one, being more centred around psychology and the other, more witchcraft-leaning, feel so separate, even though I birthed them both?
Then it hit me… the brand designer in me, was trying to cater to a world that sees them as so separate, when I see them as the exact same.
It was thanks to this that I remembered “The Integration Spiral” idea I had been writing about for my book.
Wellness Or Worthlessness?
We’ve been witnessing the wellness industry steal billions for profit and personal gain, year after year, only for us humans to still feel stuck and blocked, and the world further drained of its resources.
The air miles to retreats, the plastic hidden in product packaging, the damaging ingredients in “natural” remedies.
I was determined that my new businesses weren’t about draining people more, they were about equipping them more… and empowering them to decide what they needed, not from a place of lack, but a place of planning and connection.
To instead of “finding themselves” via commercialism, they “felt themselves” instead.
What You Writin’?
When people find out I’m a writer, the next question is usually, “what do you write about?”
To that, I simply answer, “I write about where psychology and spirituality overlap.”
I get some, “oooo’s” and “ahhhh’s” in response, with around half of them demanding my Substack link.
The point is, it dawned on me not too long ago, that I do write about this one thing and it has one single term…
INTEGRATION
That is how the mental health practitioner and the witchy spiritual director in me are married in the middle.
And so, feeling this integrative connection led me to plan out a piece of work for fellow healers and witches, but in a way I think I haven’t found before.
Necessity Was The Mother Of Magical Intention
So let me give you an example - Celtic people (this is the easiest example to give you, as it’s my own lineage)…
The magic they weaved wasn’t “magic”, it was their spiritual connection to their world around them, every day and it was a forged integration.
They didn’t just put up a house charm to warn of dangerous spirits, it would be to detect strong winds and wake them up to go check their livestock too.
Their cauldron mixing wasn’t the cackle and bubble… but the foraged herbs that would become the salve or tonic for infection when trying to survive.
It was natural, organic behaviour for a perfectly balanced blend of spiritual and daily life. It was a symbiosis. It was both the same thing.
It was natural integration.
And we’re missing this today.
Because of our Prime deliveries and our Deliveroos.
Take Away Nature And Novelty Fills The Gap
Modern witchcraft today is always at risk of demanding too much novelty and performance: that feeling when you question if you’re either taking witchcraft too seriously, or maybe not enough, at the same time.
(Or was that just me?)
Because it’s often lacking in foundation and bloated with trauma.
When it comes to witchcraft within the wellness world, it’s taken “healer” from scary village outcast to die-hard-Sabrina-fan in 0-180mph.
This work I’ve started in this guide isn’t about buying the next crystal, booking the next Bali retreat or pretending that another’s indigenous practice is somehow our own birthright now.
Quite the bloody opposite.
This piece of work I’ve created leads a person’s heart to the change they want to be in the world.
Because witches, healers, therapists… healing ourselves, others and nature, starts with how we live in this world, how our daily rituals and practices forge our very individual path.
It’s the difference between a whisper and a scream.
Stable or unstable.
Sovereign or lost.
Between being flawed, yet still helpful or flawed and just outright broken… thanks to our over-developed empathy in a nervous-system-crushing-world.
We need a guide to guide us.
Spirituality Meets Somatic Healing
We needed something that acknowledges the glorious separation of our rich inner worlds and our connection with nature (our true outer world), and how we bridge between them in ways that don’t feel forced, gimmicky or stereotypical.
And so that’s what I did.
29 pages of stuff so simple, it’s ridiculous.
29 pages of reading it and going, “well obviously”… but then asking yourself, “so why isn’t my magic “working” for me then?” and getting real damn curious about it.
The Integration Spiral Was Born
The guide works with one simple premise: women are being held within healing loops in the spirituality and wellbeing spaces, doomed to feel victims their entire lives, whilst big brands siphon off their incomes and their energy.
We no doubt all know a few brands like this.
So, instead, it’s looking at how magic methods/ workings/ practices are organically developed and ensuring that somatic systems, shadow work and parts work can help to infuse an individual’s soul into their practice and tailor it to their own needs, desires and frequencies. Over and over.
It’s blending in whatever you believe in, be it energy, deity, ancestor, tradition or cosmic element and blending in your own light and shadow to create true manifestation (a term as overused as a matcha latte).
The Shadow Wants You Stuck
If energy creates everything and our thoughts, actions, beliefs and behaviours create frequencies, then even when we desire something, we’re coming at it from lack already.
Because to want something is to admit we don’t already have it.
Mix that in with psychological parts within us that try to sabotage things to keep us in their own idea of safety (system regulation issues) and, energetically, we aren’t going to manifest shit.
The systems know this and keep us oppressed this way.
So, we need magical practices that are wired to both external connection like awe, wonder and faith, with internal intention that’s been all wrapped up in healthy somatic and psychological self-trust and support.
The Centre Of Being = The Centre Of My Work
Now, this guide is just for starters, and I want to get into it even more with systems I create, design more work around it, more resources and continue my 1:1 spiritual director work with it.
Even with my business, CalDorLyn (witch subscription box service), I’ve doubled the Grimoire pack I write by adding Integration Pages for each item and am modelling the items I craft around this. I want people to discover items that truly mean something to them, not just fill my pockets!
Yum… That happy buzzy brain feeling when synapses fire and things just connect, bringing that new creativity… 🤤
So this is where I’m at.
I’m not trying to separate things anymore.
I’m not trying to make it make sense to a world that wants neat boxes… a world that wants witchcraft to stay spooky and psychology to stay so strict.
I’m just following the thread that runs through all of it.
Integration.
And seeing what happens next as I dig deeper.
I guess you’ll know if this is yours to follow.

Ordered the guide 💖 So kind, thank you!
I feel our brains may be similarly wired! I resonate with so much of what you wrote. I have struggle with the same and trying to accept it’s ok to have many sides and each one is connected because it’s all me. 😊
